Questions about ...

Wedding Photography. . .

Do any of these statements sound familiar?

  • Your "family friend" said he could save you lots of money by not hiring a professional delivered exactly what you paid for -- poor photography.
  • You hired the least-expensive photographer out there and started wondering why you paid them at all.
  • Your album came back from the "drugstore" album service and looks like it was done by a kindergarten student.
  • The photographer takes forever, delivers a poor product and then disappears -- having decided that wedding photography is not for him (or her.)
  • You hired a "professional" who seemed inexpensive and offered you a great deal with just all the photos on a CD -- and then you saw what was on the CD.

It may not be too late.

The above are among some of the reasons that I decided to put together a service called the Disgruntled Brides Service.

I have talked to so many people who tell me: "I wish I had known about you" or "I wish I had gone with you as my photographer."

Now, I could be bitter and point out the obvious. But, that won't help anyone.

So instead . . .

Unfortunately, we can't go back and recreate the event. But who said we can't retake at least some of the photos (formal Bride and Groom, etc.)? Or maybe not reshoot but spend the time to actually clean up the work from the CDs? Or put together an album that looks good.

I can't undo another photographer's work. But, I can possibly redo their work. Now, there is a big "IF" involved with this and it has to do with copyright. Somethings I can't address as they involve copyright violations that I can't legally do. The rates on this would vary and I would need lots of information from you before we went forward with anything.

Are you wondering what you can do to bring photos back to life?

We offer a photo restoration service that takes you old, tired photos and breathes life back into them. There is far more you can do with an old photo than many would believe to make it "look good."

How can I learn more about photography?

I have been teaching Digital Photography classes at Richland Community College along with doing several workshops a year in connection with the college on photography. You can contact me or contact Richland College for more information.  I can also do one-on-one training with people on their photography, but that is a bit more expensive. I consider it vital for my well being to help educate others.

Where is your studio?

Despite having worked in photography for as many years as I have, I have never found a great reason to have a studio set-up. I prefer to do location-work and have found that my clients much prefer the personal touch that gives the work. It also allows me to keep my overhead down. And it allows me spend more time working on your photography. I also have a portable studio that I tend to take with me on location shoots that handles many situations.

What other services do you offer?

Lots. It takes people a bit to realize this at times, but having worked in the news industry with newspapers for years trains a photographer like no other business out there does. No studio photographer will ever have to shoot commercial work in the morning, cover a parade in the late morning, shoot corporate portraits first thing in the afternoon, shoot a feature photo for a magazine cover in the afternoon and finish it off with a high school baseball game. And you can't ever come back with a product that is not worthy of being published. The thing that is sad is that newspaper reproduction rarely can showcase what someone is capable of creating. So, I can do lots. What is probably shorter is the list that I won't do. I do offer boudoire photography services but do not list any of that on my website.

Do you travel?

A very definite yes.
